Airborne transmission is defined as the spread of an infectious agent through the dissemination of droplet nuclei (aerosols) that remain infectious while suspended in the air. They can spread over large distances and may remain infectious for extended periods of time.
Scientists have been actively discussing whether SARS-CoV-2 may also be able to spread through aerosols in the absence of aerosol generating procedures, particularly in indoor settings with poor ventilation or during certain medical procedures that are known to generate aerosols.
Hence, the topic of the next NCOH-webinar will be about aerosols, and particularly about the complexity in research.

Collection of infectious aerosolized respiratory viruses from the air

Optimized air sampling techniques that quantify infectious virus in the air are indispensable in order to improve intervention strategies to prevent spreading of respiratory viruses.
