NCOH webinar ‘WHO-study on coronavirus origin’

Our experts

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove is the World Health Organization’s technical lead for coronavirus response and head of the emerging diseases and zoonoses unit. During the webinar she will speak about her role as technical lead and explain how WHO does respond to epidemic alerts and how does WHO work with external experts.

Prof. Marion Koopmans is head of the Erasmus MC Department of Viroscience and an expert on Corona viruses (COVID/MERS/SARS). She serves on the scientific advisory group of the WHO and formed part of an international team of 13 experts who have been studying the origin of the coronavirus in Wuhan, China on behalf of the WHO.

Dr. Peter Ben Embarek is a Danish food scientist and program manager at WHO specializing in food safety and zoonoses and was appointed mission head of the WHO mission to Wuhan. He will speak about his background and role at WHO, on his work at WHO and his work on COVID-19 and reflects on the mission to Wuhan.
